Discounts
What are Discounts?
A Discount is a configurable deduction that Accounts may use when purchasing applicable Sessions. The Dive 365 service includes 3 types of discounts; a discount code, a bundle discount, and a family discount. The Dive 365 service makes use of a third-party payment service, Stripe, to apply Discounts to relevant Sessions and ensure appropriate application and refund calculations.
How do Discounts work?
When created/edited Discounts are associated with Sessions by administrators. When an Account purchases a Session, if the purchase matches a configured Discount, it will be selectable in the Store. Only one Discount may be applied to an individual purchase.
Discounts can be configured to expire. Once a Discount is created, it can be used by Accounts. However, if the Discount has expired, it will no longer be usable.
Discounts can also be configured to be one-time use. This is common for discount codes. However, a Discount may also be configured as multi-use. In such a configuration, the Discount can be applied against multiple distinct purchases. This is common for bundle and family discounts.
Discounts can be configured to be a flat value in dollars or as a percentage discount.
Discounts do not apply to Registration Categories.
Discount codes
When a Discount is configured as a discount code, the Account may choose to enter that code at time of purchase. As only one Discount may be applied to a single purchase, no other Discounts can have been applied. If selected, the Discount will be applied evenly against all applicable Sessions in the purchase. Specifically, if there were 2 applicable Sessions and the Discount was configured as $50, each Session would have a $25 discount.
Bundle discounts
When a Discount is configured as a bundle discount, the Account may choose to accept the discount at time of purchase. Administrators may configure the total number of Sessions within a single purchase that will trigger the Discount. As only one Discount may be applied to a single purchase, no other Discounts can have been applied. The Account may choose not to accept the Discount in favour of a different discount. Like discount codes, if selected, the Discount will be applied evenly against all applicable Sessions in the purchase.
Family discounts
When a Discount is configured as a family discount, the Account may choose to accept the discount at time of purchase. Administrators may configure the total number of Members within a single purchase that will trigger the Discount. As only one Discount may be applied to a single purchase, no other Discounts can have been applied. The Account may choose not to accept the Discount in favour of a different discount. Like discount codes, if selected, the Discount will be applied evenly against all applicable Sessions in the purchase.
Impact on Fees
The harmonized transaction Fee is calculated based on the PRE-DISCOUNT value of the purchase. In other words, if the purchase pre-discount total was $300 and the discount was $100 for a total payment of $200, the Account would still be required to pay the harmonized transaction Fee based on the original $300 value.
