Staff

What are Staff?

Staff are Members that have been given a role within the Organization. In this case, a Role is a set of permissions that enable the Member to perform certain duties within Dive 365. Typically these Roles are associated with coaches, administrators, program directors, treasurers, and so on.

How does Staff work?

Staff are important players in any Organization. Staff are how Organizations will deploy and manage the people that facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Organization. From coaches to administrators, Staff will be able to perform their duties based on permissions that have been assigned to them through Roles.

When Staff are granted Roles, those permissions are granted in perpetuity until such time as the permissions are explicitly removed. For example, if a staff member is granted the role of "coach", they will retain that role and its permissions season after season until such time as another staff member with sufficient permissions removes that role. Roles can be added to, and removed from, staff members at any time.

Staff are invited to an Organization by an administrator. When an invitation is initiated, the administrator provides the email address and desired Role(s) of a Member. If the Member already exists in Dive 365, they will be assigned to the Organization and granted the given Role(s). If the Member does not exist, an email will be sent to the Member with a link to the Account service. When the invitee clicks the link, they will be required to sign up. Once the invitee signs up, their Member will be officially created and mapped to the Organization with the given Role(s). Those that have been invited but have not yet created a Member will be labeled as "invite pending" on the Staff page. This will enable administrators to resend invitations.
